Sockan Akvarell is a delicate sock with stripes, striking texture and a little multi-colour knitting, which is perfect for the mini sock packs that many of our hand-dyers have in their range, complemented by a 50-gram skein of base colour.
Sockan Akvarell is knitted from the cuff down to the toe with two, or as many colours as you wish. The heel is knitted with short rows and the pattern is available for three different sizes.
The pattern is designed for the Magic Loop technique, but can of course also be knitted with five sock needles if desired.
Gauge
36 stitches and 44 rows = 10*10 cm after blocking.
Gauge was achieved on needles 2.00 ? 2.75 depending on tension. It is absolutely essential for the result that the gauge is correct.
Size
Circumference of foot and cuff: 17cm, (19.5cm), 21.5cm
The length of the foot is adjustable.
For the best fit, the sock should be knitted 0.5 ? 4cm narrower than the circumference of the foot.
Yarn
Sock yarn approx 420m/100g, tex Meilenweit 50 Cashmere, Meilenweit 100 Seta, from Lana Grossa or Sisu 175m/50g from Sandnes Garn
Base colour: 40g, (45g), 50g.
Pattern colours: approx 4-6 grams per stripe for two socks. Total approx 20g, (24g), 30g.
Keep in mind that yarn usage varies depending on how long the foot is knitted. Total yarn usage for a sample sock in size M and shoe size 38: approx 64g.
