The old tried-and-true double-pointed needles, or DPNs as they are also called, are not a bestseller today as circular needles are chosen even when knitting back and forth. The main reason is the versatility of the circular needle, but also for ergonomic reasons as the circular needle spares your wrists and shoulders.
