This knitting pattern is in Swedish.
Karens Hat is knitted back and forth in smocking stitch, starting at the forehead and working towards the back. The number of stitches gradually increases from the forehead towards the back, so that the hat fits snugly around the head. The back of the head is knitted on double-pointed needles with decreases. Finally, a folded edge (channel) is knitted along the neck edge to make a tie.
