Cardigan Maja

Maja is a short, modern cardigan with a patterned yoke like traditional Icelandic sweaters. As with many Icelandic sweaters, part of the yoke pattern is repeated on the lower part of the sleeve, but on this model, the pattern is extra long. The body and sleeves are knitted separately in the round and then joined together on a long circular needle to knit the yoke with pattern and decreases. The neckline is finished with a few short rows to slightly raise the back piece. The cardigan is cut open and stitches are picked up for the front edges.
The cardigan was designed by Hélène Magnússon, an Icelandic/French designer and author who organizes popular hiking and knitting trips in Iceland. (www.icelandicknitter.com).
The Maja cardigan was designed exclusively for Järbo and is part of a knit-along in 2021.
