The stockinette cape has every chance of becoming a favorite in your wardrobe – both outdoors and indoors. The neckband is knitted last, so you can easily adjust the height. Darcy Cape drapes beautifully over the shoulders, but has plenty of room from the slit downwards.

Yarn
Sandnes Garn Sunday (100% merino wool, 50 g = 235 m) knitted together with
Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair (57% mohair, 28% silk, 15% wool, 25 g = 210 m)
Yarn usage
Sunday color 1042: (250) 250 (250) 250 (300) 300 (350) 400 g
Tynn Silk Mohair color 1053 or 1022: (125) 125 (125) 125 (150) 175 (175) 200 g
Recommended needle size
Circular needles (40 and 80 cm) 3, 3.5 and 4 mm.
Gauge
21 sts x approx. 29 rows stockinette = 10 x 10 cm on 4 mm needles with 1 strand of each yarn.
Construction
Knitted in one piece, from the top down. The shoulders and neckline are shaped using increases. Once the neckline has been shaped, it is knitted back and forth. Then the work is knitted in the round until it is divided for the slit, and the front and back pieces are knitted separately. The neckband can advantageously be knitted as soon as you have finished knitting your first ball of yarn. The stitches for the neckband are picked up along the opening at the top, which means you can knit the neckband as long as you want it.
Fit
Darcy Cape is roomy, but drapes beautifully over the shoulders. The neck opening is wide, so even though the neckband is high, it does not fit tightly around the neck.
Size selection
To choose the right size, I recommend that you measure around your upper body at its widest point, incl. the upper arms. Compare that measurement with “Circumference just above the slit” listed under the Cape measurements (see *).
