Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay was born in 1968 from a simple question: How can we improve the quality of life for women in rural Uruguay?

The answer lay in handicrafts, using skills passed down from our mothers and grandmothers and the raw material we had at hand: wool.

This is how Manos del Uruguay was founded, to provide jobs for women in rural Uruguay, which would mean not only an income, but also an opportunity for personal development and independence, while allowing them to preserve their roots and traditions and stay close to their communities and families.
